Implementation Science (IS) encompasses an extensive field of theories, models, frameworks, methods, and strategies used to study and promote the systematic uptake and spread of research findings and other evidence-based practices routine delivery across a broad array of settings. On average, it takes approximately 17 years for only 14% of original research to be implemented in standard practice. IS seeks to bridge the gap between research and real-world application by identifying and overcoming barriers to implementation across individual, organizational, and community levels. Over the past two decades, the field of implementation science has dramatically grown to include a dedicated set of journals, research meetings, and training programs advancing a broad array of methods and domains including a vast landscape of over 150 theories, models, and frameworks.
